Design Tips

On TouristInfo 2.0 members can tweak and cutomize their profiles in many ways. Go to "My Page" (top), the "Manage My Page or Photo", then to the Appearance page. Whatever theme you have chosen before, you can "make it unique" now. "Basic  Theme" options only allow for same color and font adjustments. "All Options" gives you many degrees of freedom that will meet most needs for customization, including selection of background images. Finally, with "Advanced" you may freely edit most of the styles  - but you should not do so unless you are familiar with CSS.

  • Choose a custom header: "All Options", just upload an image. Best width: 955px with height around 140px to 300px. Example: "Saxonia"vacation homes in South Africa - the provider has done a perfect job in adjusting the look & feel to Saxonia's website.
  • Side images: "All Options" - examples:
    A vacation village in Southern Palatinate and a  B&B in Bavaria  near Nuremberg
  • Use links in your description module "Profile Information": add some CSS - see next item
  • Style your description module "Profile Information"
    .module_about_user {
    border-style:solid;
    border-width:thick;
    border-color:#9a1d3f;
    padding: 6px;
    background-image:url(http://)
    }
    Use the styles you like. If you use a background image: the profile box in the center column, the ideal width is 540px. Two examples from the German North Sea:
    1) Module with bold fonts, link and border: "Haus Seeblick" Bed & Breakfast
    2) Module with background image: "Hotel Hohenzollern", Büsum
  • Style the header navigation, Example: Ferienhaus Anna Ueckermünde
    #xg_navigation ul li span {
        padding:0;
        display: inline;
            background-color: white;
            opacity: 0.6;
    }
    Further adjustments are possible with
    #xg_navigation {margin-top:62px;}
